CVA 205 Project Brief and Updated Contest Rules

I have received today some new information about the contest and the course.

The contest, titled "Laugh Your Pants Off" had the aim that students should conceive, write and storyboard an idea for a piece of animation between 10 to 30 seconds. It should be character-driven humour and can be any style of animation. But it must be funny.

Things to consider are

  • What makes your audience laugh
  • Is it scripted or visual
  • Consider the use of audio to enhance the film
  • What style of animation fits it better

The winner will receive the month's internship in September and they will also be four runners up.

Mike wants a maximum of five ideas per student. Five minutes per pitch.

On the negative side, the brief from Jared states that if your idea does not go through to Nickelodeon, as only 10 students can, you will have to work on an advert for Rave on Air to promote the products of the Year 2 Product Design students. I will have to work with them and have to pitch to them. Can't believe I will have to pitch to another student.

The list of companies are

BMW, Ann Summers, Apple, Fossil, Louis Vuitton, Lush, Marc Jacobs, Mont Blanc, Puma, Sony, Swatch Snow Goggles, Y3, Mercedes.

I don't know half of these companies. I really hope I don't have to do this.
